This project was to restore the wetland buffer around the main pond in
Hawrlak park and provide a natural buffer to prevent geese use on the
lawns around the park and reduce geese on the main pond. This design
was completed with MBAC Studio out of Vancouver BC. TCS provided
all revegetation Design and supported site inspections. TCS also
provided native plants through its sister company in a rare plant
salvage for the project.
TCS was engaged by MBAC Studio, PFS Studios and the City of
Edmonton to complete a design to restore a native wetland edge and
buffer around the main pond with the goal to reduce geese populations
on the pond, create a natural and native ecosystem along the wetland
edge and advise on the design of the wetland. TCS staff worked with
the landscape Architects, engineers, City of Edmonton and contractors
to design a wetland edge (specify water depths) and create a detailed
soil placement and design an aesthetically pleasing habitat that has the
functionality to allow for suppression of geese use, skating in the
winter, and a triathlon in the summer to occur.
TCS designed the native seed mixes, planting plan and topographic
needs of the project while mitigating all stakeholder requirements. Our
team then provided key information to the engineering teams and
landscape architects so they could complete their final designs on the
project. Currently TCS is supporting the team in providing on site
guidance to the landscapers and monitoring plant establishment.
