Work Completed

TCS has been working on a coal mine program for the past 10 years. TCS prepared a mine reclamation and monitoring report in
partnership with SNC Lavalin. The reporting as set out in the reclamation monitoring program (RMP) submitted to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) in 2022 as part of the Life of Mine Plan for
the Mine. This mine reclamation plan included long term monitoring of rare species, a reclamation plan to reconstruct a creek and re-establish rare plants along the creek alignment and utilize native legumes to increase nitrogen fixation within the mine soils.

TCS has for the past 10 years conducted on going rare plant population monitoring, reclamation monitoring and wildlife monitoring and associated regulatory reporting in support of the mines reclamation monitoring plans and environmental protection plan. A number of rare species have been monitored on the mine footprint.

TCS worked with the mine to pilot the North Star Floating island system patented by TCS’s sister company GP Restoration Solutions Inc. This program has successfully been able to reduce selenium concentrations in stormwater ponds on the mine allowing safe released of water from the mine. TCS continues to support the selenium phyto-remediation program through ongoing annual monitoring and maintenance on the floating island systems. Currently over 1000 square meters of islands have been deployed on 3 ponds within the mine.
