Work Completed

This project was to restore the wetland to its historical open water
status. Our role was to partner with the design engineer and provide
soil reclamation guidelines, revegetation guidelines and oversee all
revegetation and inspect soil placement on the project.

TCS was engaged by the Tobacco Plains Indian Band to create habitat
assessments across the entire reserve. The results of these assessments
identified water access to be a critical problem for wildlife populations
in the area and the wetland at Tobacco Plains have been steadily drying
up over the past few decades.
TCS was engaged by Tobacco Plains in a contract to design the
restoration of the Turtle pond and 2 small ponds in partnership with
USA based team to provide oversite on earthworks. These ponds had
liners placed to help retain water longer in the year. TCS designed the
soil placement and revegetation plan for the project along with
invasive species control measures. TCS then provided oversight into soil
placement and managed the on-site revegetation including
coordinating plant material propagation, seed harvesting, seeding and
planting of the site. In December 2024 TCS also installed live stakes on
this site to enhance wildlife habitat.
TCS maintains a close working relationship with TPIB to monitor
revegetation and weed control into the future.
